Research
Clinical research is critical to improving the success of cancer treatments of all types. It offers people potential access to treatments which are new and still under development. Trials may be conducted at St Vincent’s alone, or as part of a local or international co-operative group.
The range of available trials is constantly changing. Your doctor will discuss appropriate trials with you. Additional information is available at the Cancer Council Victoria website.
For administrative and legal reasons, many clinical trial treatments may only be given at St Vincent’s Hospital. Some people may choose to transfer there for such treatment, and return to their usual site afterwards for ongoing care.
Funding to support research comes from a variety sources including private donations. If you wish to donate, please discuss this with your doctor.
Donations above $2 are tax deductible.
